Alex Webster is a professional photographer currently based in Toronto, Canada. He currently operates in both the fine art and commercial realms of photography and has a diverse interest in both streams.

Alex became interested in photography in high school and began taking courses at both Ryerson University and Dawson College in Montreal during his English BA at Concordia University. At the end of his second year at Concordia, Alex was accepted for Ryerson’s Photography Workshop in France, a 3 week intensive program in Paris and Southern France covering photo history, production, and theory. Upon completion of the English Creative Writing degree, his motivation to get more serious about photography led him to attain a Photography BFA at Ryerson University. Small classes and harsh photo critiques pushed Alex to elevate quality of his work and the depth of his photographic vision. Graduating in May of 2007, Alex continues working in the fine art field of image making, but also has expanded to more commercially oriented work such as portraiture, event photography, and weddings. In his final year at Ryerson, Alex’s thesis project “Challenging Perceptions” was chosen by the University’s President out of hundreds for the year long President’s Show in Ryerson’s executive offices. It was also published in PhotoEd Magazine as a feature article.

Alex has also been the official photographer for several Power Within events across Canada where the former U.S. President Bill Clinton was the speaker.

In November 2010, Alex became one of two official photographers for the Liberal Party and the Premier of Ontario. He was responsible for all the images released by the Liberal Party of Ontario and when he wasn't shooting events around the province, he was sending out photos and managing the photo database at Queen's Park.
